Facebook Live session to discuss, demonstrate research on canola oil and weight

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — If the resolve for your New Year's healthy weight loss resolution is already starting to crack, you may want to watch this week’s Penn State Facebook Live session. Penn State researcher Penny Kris-Etherton will talk about research on how canola oil and a healthy diet may lead to weight loss.

This research will be the focus of an upcoming Facebook Live event at noon on Wednesday, Jan. 18. Kris-Etherton is a distinguished professor of nutrition whose research focuses on how diet can affect heart health. The event will include a food demonstration showing viewers how to incorporate canola oil into a heart-healthy diet, as well as a question-and-answer session.

Penn State is hosting the real-time online talk, which is available to the public by visiting the Penn State Facebook page at noon EST on Jan. 18.

During the open discussion, audience members can pose questions in the comments section about consuming canola oil, heart-healthy diets, and recipe ideas.

The University is using Live, Facebook’s video streaming feature, to connect faculty experts with the public, shed light on the latest research, and help the audience make better sense of current issues.
