UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Institute for CyberScience (ICS) encourages researchers using computational and data-enabled methods to apply for the 2017 ICS Seed Grant Program.

The ICS Seed Grant Program fosters collaborative, interdisciplinary research projects by providing funding for preliminary research. Seed grant recipients will use their awards to perform the groundwork needed to apply for larger awards from external funding agencies such as the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health.

The 2017 Seed Grant Program was announced on Dec. 2, 2016. Awards of up to $25,000 are available through this initiative.

Details about the 2017 Seed Grant Program, as well as information on how to apply, can be found at https://ics.psu.edu/seed-grant. The deadline for submissions is Jan. 17, 2017. Researchers with questions about the program can email them to ics-seed-grants@ics.psu.edu.

The Institute for CyberScience is one of the five interdisciplinary research institutes under the Office of the Vice President for Research, and is dedicated to supporting cyber-enabled research across the disciplines. ICS builds an active community of researchers using computational methods in a wide range of fields through co-hiring of tenure-track faculty, providing seed funding for ambitious computational research projects, and offering access to high-performance computing resources through its Advanced Cyber Infrastructure. With the support of ICS, Penn State researchers harness the power of big data, big simulation, and big computing to solve the world’s problems.
