David Baker, professor of educational theory and policy, and Bryan Mann, a doctoral candidate studying educational theory and policy, recently authored “What cyber charter schools are and why their growth should worry us,” which was published on The Conversation

Jeff Hayes, professor of counselor education and psychology, spoke as part of a panel on Dec. 6 following a special screening of Newtown, a documentary focusing on the tragic events that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14, 2012. Hayes spoke from the perspective of a licensed psychologist as well as a former resident of Newtown and alumna of Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Paul Morgan, professor of education policy studies, presented a brief to the White House’s Office of Management and Budget, the President’s Domestic Policy Council and the U.S. Department of Education on his research related to racial disparities among elementary-aged students. This research has recently been cited by the Houston Chronicle and Education Week. He also recently served as a mentor for the National Academy of Education/Spencer Foundation Annual Meeting and Fellows Retreat held Nov. 16-19.
