Mark your calendars: Spring events from the Center for Women Students

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Center for Women Students at Penn State will sponsor the following upcoming events during the spring semester, starting in January 2017. All events are free and open to the public, and will be held in the Freeman Auditorium of the HUB-Robeson Center, on the University Park campus.

The Female Orgasm
6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017

“Sex Discussed Here!” brings a playful, honest approach to this topic, packing the house on college campuses. With warmth and humor, we’ll illuminate the subject of female orgasm for everyone, whether you want to have your first one, you're hoping to help your partner, you're debating the existence of the G-spot, or "to fake or not to fake?"

Rape, Racism, and Healthy Masculinity: How are they Connected?
6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017

Facilitated by Neil Irvin, executive director of Men Can Stop Rape, the presentation will discuss the racist history of rape, the challenges to connecting anti-rape and anti-racism work, and the promise of creating a collective commitment to preventing racism and gender-based violence through non-violent communication.

Embrace film screening and discussion

Embrace is told from the point of view of Taryn Brumfitt as she traverses the globe talking to experts, women in the street, and well-known personalities about the alarming rates of body image issues that are seen in people of all body types.

Named, “1st Foot Soldier of the Year” in 2015 by Melissa Harris Perry, Angelica Is the founder of TransTech Social Enterprises, a company that empowers trans and gender nonconforming people through on-the-job training in leadership and workplace skills.

End Rape on Campus: Annie Clark and Andrea Pino of The Hunting Ground

Annie E. Clark and Andrea Pino are civil rights activists, and co-founders of “End Rape On Campus,” where they give voice and counsel to survivors of campus sexual assault all around the country.

Penn State’s Center for Women Students (CWS) is committed to a campus culture that makes all students feel supported and gives students access to a full range of services, fosters cooperation and respect, and creates positive experiences that help students be successful both at Penn State and in the world.

The Center supports students who have been impacted by sexual violence, relationship violence, stalking, harassment, and other campus climate issues. It assists students through education, advocacy, referrals, and crisis intervention/support counseling.
