Men's hockey ranked No. 3 in both major polls

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- After being idle this past weekend, the Penn State men’s ice hockey team received four first place votes while remaining No. 3 in the latest uscho.com poll.

This marks the first time in program history that the Nittany Lions have received first-place votes in the poll. In total Penn State received 886 points, 56 more than the previous week, and just 62 points behind Denver at No. 2 and 105 behind Minnesota-Duluth for the top spot. Denver also received four first place votes while Duluth had the remaining 42 out of a possible 50.

Penn State remains ranked ahead of other Big Ten foes Ohio State (No. 9) and Minnesota (No. 11) in the top-20, while Michigan and Wisconsin each received just a single vote.

Penn State also moved up one spot in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll to No. 3 after receiving 424 points and one first place vote. Both Ohio State (No.8) and Minnesota (No. 11) also remain ranked in the top-15.
