Domen named to Milestones working group

HERSHEY, Pa. — Dr. Ron Domen, associate dean for graduate medical education at Penn State College of Medicine, has been selected to be a part of the Professionalism Working Group for the next version of Milestones, an initiative jointly sponsored by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ASGME) and the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS).

Milestones are competency-based developmental outcomes — such as knowledge, skills, attitudes and performance — that can be demonstrated progressively by residents and fellows from the beginning of their education through graduation to the practice of their specialties. Milestones are designed to help all residencies and fellowships produce highly competent physicians to meet the health and health care needs of the public.

Domen will be joining other physicians from multiple specialties and experts in graduate medical education from across the country to assist ACGME and ABMS in shaping these standards for residents and fellows in all specialties, as well as identifying assessment tools that individual programs can use.
