Paniccia tabbed CHA goalie of the week

WINTHROP, Mass. -- Freshman Daniela Paniccia has been named the College Hockey America (CHA) Goalie of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. Including Monday, the Nittany Lions have received at least one CHA honor each of the past four weeks.

Monday’s plaudit marks Paniccia’s fourth honor by the CHA this season. Paniccia was named the Rookie of the Week on Oct. 24, Goalie of the Week on Oct. 31 and Goalie of the Month for September/October on Nov. 1.

Last weekend, the Nittany Lions went 1-0-1 against Lindenwood inside the Pegula Ice Arena. Penn State topped Lindenwood, 3-2, in the opener and then the two teams played to a 1-1 tie in the series finale.

In net for the Blue and White, Paniccia started both games, made 42 saves, tallied a goals against average of 1.44 and posted a save percentage of .933.

On the year, Paniccia has a record of 5-2-2, tallied 278 saves, posted a save percentage of .936, has a goals against average of 1.93 and has recorded three shutouts.
