CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — The Penn State Lehigh Valley Benefiting THON organization has been actively working to raise funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer this fall. THON’s mission is to provide emotional and financial support, spread awareness and ensure funding for critical research ― all in pursuit of a cure.

Penn State Lehigh Valley Benefiting THON has been raising awareness and funds throughout different events on and off campus. The group held a dodgeball tournament which was open to the campus community on Oct. 18, two successful canning weekends, and the Penn State Lehigh Valley Benefiting THON 5K race on Nov. 6.

“After the success of two canning weekends, our THON dodgeball tournament and multiple donation boxes, Penn State Lehigh Valley Benefiting THON is currently underway in totaling up the raised funds so far. We are hoping to add to our total funds with the upcoming events,” said Barbara Awad, THON chair at Penn State Lehigh Valley.

Upcoming events include the silent auction, Mr. Lehigh Valley, Lights in the Parkway and dancer send off. Students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend and participate in all events. The yearlong efforts will culminate in the 46-hour, no-sleeping, no-sitting dance marathon held in February known as THON weekend.
