UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The inaugural Freedom 5K, the final event of Penn State’s Military Appreciation Week, will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, at Gate B of the Bryce Jordan Center.

The run/walk is organized by Penn State’s Aerospace Studies Student Organization and supported by Penn State ROTC. The goal of the 5K is to raise funds and awareness for post-traumatic stress disorder among our nation’s veterans. The race’s benefactor is the Lone Survivor Foundation, which hosts retreats to provide psychiatric treatment for veterans and their families.

Anyone can sign up for the run/walk or donate at https://runsignup.com/Race/PA/UniversityPark/Freedom5kForPTSD. Each person who registers for the race or donates more than $25 will receive a Freedom 5K T-shirt. The deadline to register is 11:59 a.m. on Nov. 9.
