The State College Police Department, with assistance from Penn State, continues to investigate and identify individuals responsible for damage in downtown State College on Oct. 22, following the football game against Ohio State.

As of Nov. 3, police said 13 individuals have been identified as major participants in the riot. The individuals are facing criminal charges that include felony riot; misdemeanor disorderly conduct and failure to disperse; and summary disorderly conduct. Of the 13, 11 are current Penn State students, and two are alumni.
In a Nov. 3 release, State College Police said they expect to file charges against all 13. Those who are Penn State students will also be referred to the University’s Office of Student Conduct, which will engage its conduct process to hold students accountable for behaviors that violate the University’s Code of Conduct. Students who are found to be in violation of the code of conduct will have a formal disciplinary record, which could affect their entrance to other schools or jobs.
State College Police said detectives expect to identify additional participants as the investigation continues. Police have posted photos of suspects from the riot at www.statecollegepa.us/riotid.
“Those who have stepped up to provide the State College Police Department with video and photos have greatly aided us in the identification of suspects. Residents are encouraged to view our website and to provide additional photos or help identify other potential suspects,” said John Gardner, State College Borough Police Chief.
In addition, detectives are awaiting a final restitution amount for damage caused by the riot, with current estimates at approximately $31,000.
