A: Students across the University can take advantage of free and discounted software through the Software at Penn State and Penn State Downloads services.
Through the Downloads site, students have access to free software including security tools and virus detection, among others. With Software at Penn State, students receive discounts on programs such as Adobe Creative Cloud (which includes Photoshop and InDesign), Matlab, Minitab and Mathematica, along with many others. Students also may download the latest version of Microsoft Office Professional (currently a $399.99 value) for free through the service.
Many programs are available as downloads; shipping is free for those that are not. Students can download or purchase programs at any time, but those about to graduate should be sure to get their files and software before the semester ends. Students are no longer eligible for the discounts once their Penn State Access Accounts expire.
