UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Students are invited to attend a town hall and panel discussion with members of the Penn State Board of Trustees to discuss diversity and inclusion. The panel will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 15 in Robb Hall in the Hintz Alumni Center, University Park. Students at Penn State campuses can watch a live stream of the event at studentforum.psu.edu.

The Penn State student governments are organizing the town hall to provide an opportunity for students to interact with Trustees and learn more about the University’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Six Board members will discuss their personal and professional experiences with diversity and inclusion and why these topics are important to them. They will also touch on how to promote diversity and inclusion throughout the University community.

Students will be able to direct questions to the Board panelists in person or using the chat box on the live stream for those watching remotely.

“There is a benefit in knowing that both student government and the Board of Trustees are committed to having a discussion about diversity and inclusion and being honest about a very important topic,” said Terry Ford, president of the University Park Undergraduate Association. “I think the conversation can really be a motivating factor for us to continue working toward these goals.”

Ford will be moderating the town hall. Kevin Horne, president of the Graduate and Professional Student Association, and Pavel Shusharin, president of the Council of Commonwealth Student Government, will open the town hall by talking about the Penn State All In initiative and recent national events that make diversity and inclusion important topics.

The town hall is open to students with a valid Penn State ID. Students who attend the event are invited to stay for a reception with members of the Board of Trustees and Penn State student governments.

For students who cannot attend, the discussion will be recorded and available after the event.
