Author to speak about power of resilience on Nov. 15

Dave Pelzer will discuss the importance of resilience and perseverance as he divulges his own personal history at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This lecture is free and open to the public, but due to the sensitive nature of his lecture, audience members be at least 18 years old.

As the victim of one of the most extreme cases of child abuse identified in California history at the time, Pelzer was placed in a series of foster homes at age 12, after he nearly died several times by the hands of his alcoholic mother. Despite the obstacles he faced as a child, Pelzer chose to inspire others with his story, eventually becoming a New York Times best-selling author, inspirational speaker and internationally recognized humanitarian.

Pelzer is the author of seven inspirational books, and his latest work, Moving Forward, teaches readers how to let go of the past and use negative experiences to make them stronger when tackling the future. Pelzer has also been honored with many prestigious awards, including The National Jefferson Award.
