Vice Provost for Global Programs to represent Penn State on national boards

In recognition of his contributions, Michael Adewumi, vice provost for Global Programs, has recently been elected to serve on both the Board of National Association of International Educators and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities Commission on International Initiatives Executive Committee. Both are three-year commitments.

Adewumi has overseen tremendous growth of Penn State’s global mission for almost a decade. Under Adewumi’s leadership, Penn State has increased the number and diversity of American students studying abroad, significantly increased the number of international students to 10 percent of the student body, as well as international scholars. He has also led the realization of the vision of a Global Penn State by building a network of strategic partnerships throughout the world.

“I am humbled by my election and honored to serve … this election is more in recognition of the University’s rapid progress towards broad internationalization, than individual recognition of accomplishments,” said Adewumi.

Adewumi has served as vice provost for Global Programs for almost a decade, providing leadership for all of Penn State’s global engagements. He is also a professor and the Quentin E. and Louise L. Wood University Endowed Fellow in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering.
