ALTOONA, Pa. — Penn State Altoona women’s tennis freshman Brayley Lewis (Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania/Bishop Guilfoyle) was voted the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Newcomer of the Year, when the league released its 2016 All-Conference team on Thursday, Oct. 20. This fall, Lewis went 8-3 overall in singles matches and 8-4 overall in doubles matches.

Selected second team All-AMCC were senior Michelle Colucci (Middletown, New Jersey/St. John Vianney), who went 7-3 overall in No. 1 singles, and freshman Annie Ruggles (Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania/Hollidaysburg), who posted a 5-2 overall record in No. 6 singles.

Sophomore forward Matthew Hibbs (Williamsport, Pennsylvania/Loyalsock Township) scored two goals in the Lions’ win over AMCC opponent Franciscan University on Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Second place in the Pitt-Bradford Panther Relays

The Lions started their 2016-2017 season on Saturday, Oct. 15, in the Pitt-Bradford Panther Relays meet and combined with the Lady Lions to score 116 points and place second.

Penn State Altoona women’s soccer’s win at Medaille College on Oct. 15 was the team’s first conference victory of the season.

The Lady Lions’ 5-2 loss to Franciscan in the AMCC tournament semifinal round eliminated the team from the playoffs.

Penn State Altoona 3, Pitt-Greensburg 0

With their win over Pitt-Greensburg on Tuesday, Oct. 18, the Lady Lions improved to 5-1 in the AMCC and remain in second place in the conference standings.
