Eberly College of Science launches Corporate Associates Program

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals becomes first participant in new Eberly program to bring companies to campus

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Eberly College of Science announced today that Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is the first participant in its Corporate Associates Program. The partnership will help prepare the college’s students to enter the 21st century workforce by enabling them to interact with professionals at high-profile health care and science companies.

"The Corporate Associates Program builds and strengthens meaningful relationships between corporations and our highly qualified students to create a pipeline of talented professionals who are capable of translating science into real-life solutions," said Douglas Cavener, Verne M. Willaman Dean of the Eberly College of Science. "We are excited that Regeneron, a company at the cutting-edge of developing life-saving drugs, is one of our founding members of this new program. Our students will benefit from exposure to this innovative biotechnology company and the possibility of obtaining employment with the company and others like it in the life-sciences industry upon graduating."

As part of the program, Regeneron’s representatives will help the college cultivate in its students the types of proficiencies that are needed in the "biopharma" workplace. Regeneron will be available to assist students directly to further help them develop valuable skills.

"Partnering through the Corporate Associates Program is a great way to get to know the highly qualified and ambitious student population at Penn State's Eberly College of Science," said Natalie Griffith, senior manager of university relations at Regeneron. "As a fast-growing and fast-paced company, we are seeking bright new hires who are eager to contribute to our mission of improving lives through the discovery and development of important new medicines."

According to Cavener, the Eberly College of Science plans to grow the Corporate Associates Program in the coming years to include targeted companies that align well with its students’ talents and skills.

"This is an opportunity for all of our students to learn more about these companies and to interact with them in a more personalized way," he said. "In turn, as we work with companies like Regeneron, we will look for new opportunities for involvement with the companies, and our students will be made aware of these opportunities through a variety of outreach initiatives."
