Students encouraged to 'Take the Lead' during Homecoming Week

Homecoming Week means plenty of excitement and Nittany Lion pride in Happy Valley. It is also an opportunity for students to "Take the Lead" and be safe about drinking, not just during Homecoming, but throughout their time at Penn State.

"Take the Lead" is an alcohol harm-reduction campaign sponsored by University Park Undergraduate Association, Council of Commonwealth Student Governments, Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, Off-Campus Student Union, Student Athlete Advisory Council,  Area Residence Hall Associations and Council of Lionhearts. The campaign has been running since 2010. Each year a group of Penn State students are asked how they "Take the Lead" to stay safe, looking out for friends, get involved and represent Penn State. Their answers are highlighted in posters around campus.

Students are invited to share their alcohol-related harm reduction tips and strategies by stopping in at the HUB on Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students will have an opportunity to write down their positive behaviors and pose for a photo to demonstrate how they "Take the Lead." Students will also have the opportunity to nominate students for next years’ campaign.
