Penn State Hillel hosting events for Jewish High Holy Days

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Hillel is hosting a number of events, including prayer services and meals, as part of its observance of the Jewish High Holy Days.

Events include:

  • Erev Rosh Hashanah services — 6:30 p.m., Oct. 2, Pasquerilla Spiritual Center
  • Erev Rosh Hashanah dinner — 7:30 p.m., Oct. 2, Pasquerilla Spiritual Center
  • Rosh Hashanah morning services — 10 a.m., Oct. 3, Pasquerilla Spiritual Center
  • Discussion and Rosh Hashanah evening services — 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. Oct. 3, Pasquerilla Spiritual Center
  • Rosh Hashanah morning services — 10 a.m., Oct. 4, Pasquerilla Spiritual Center
  • Taschlich — 5 p.m., Oct. 4, Spring Creek Park, 901 Houserville Road, State College (Meet at Pasquerilla Spiritual Center)
  • New year's party — 8 p.m., Oct. 5, Indigo nightclub, 112 W. College Ave., State College
  • Lunch and learn — 11 a.m., Oct. 6, 134 HUB-Robeson Center
  • Homecoming parade Shabbat — 6:30 p.m., Oct. 7, Irving's Bagels, 110 E. College Ave., State College
  • Yoga — Noon, Oct. 9, Old Main lawn (check website for rain location)
  • Lunch and learn — 11 a.m., Oct. 11, 134 HUB-Robeson Center
  • Kol Nidre — 6 p.m., Oct. 11, Pasquerilla Spiritual Center
  • Yom Kippur morning services — 9 a.m., Oct. 12, Pasquerilla Spiritual Center
  • Yom Kippur discussion — 5 p.m., Oct. 12, Pasquerilla Spiritual Center
  • Yizkor services and Yom Kippur concluding services — 6 p.m., 7 p.m., Oct. 12, Pasquerilla Spiritual Center
  • Break the Fast — 7:30 p.m., Oct. 12, Pasquerilla Spiritual Center

Tickets are required for all events and can be found at Hillel's website at www.pennstatehillel.org/events.

All services and the Break the Fast event are free to students. Cost for the Rosh Hashanah dinner is $18 for students and $36 for non-students.

In addition to Hillel-sponsored events, students may organize their own Jewish holy days experience by requesting funding from Penn State Hillel's Jewish Programming and Allocations Committee, or JewPAC, to plan programs. Students may apply for JewPAC funding at https://pennstatehillel.org/programjewpacrequest/.
