Executive debates viewing schedule set for West Pattee Library

Closed captioned and audio options available for upcoming debates

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Viewing of the United States’ four executive debates — three presidential debates on Monday, Sept. 26; Sunday, Oct. 9; and Wednesday, Oct. 19, and single vice presidential debate on Tuesday, Oct. 4 — will be available in the News and Microforms Library on the ground floor of West Pattee Library on Penn State’s University Park campus. Three televisions and the Film Video Viewing Room with its large screen will feature coverage by four networks, representing left, right and moderate viewpoints. The commercial-free broadcasts are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

In the News and Microforms Library in W21 Pattee Library, the broadcasts will be closed captioned with audio provided through a limited number of MP3 players with headsets, as well as through the use of a downloadable app on personal devices with headsets. In the Film Video Viewing Room, W22 Pattee Library, the broadcast will include audio.

The Commission on Presidential Debates has set the formats for each of the 90-minute events with the moderators for each event selected in early September. Major topics for each debate will be released one week prior to each debate.

Viewings of the presidential and vice presidential debates are free and open to the public and space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information or to inquire about accommodations or physical access, contact librarian Eric Novotny at ecn1@psu.edu.
