Fall semester is well underway, but soon fall break will be here, and students will need to plan on temporarily leaving Penn State housing during the closedown period -- Nov. 19 to 25.
Housing hours
University housing closes at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19. All students must have vacated the buildings by this time. Personal items may remain in the student’s room during the break period, but we suggest valuable items should be taken home.
Students may return after 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25 to enjoy the home football game.
Some students may not be able to travel home or need to stay on campus during University closedown periods. Housing offers a Break Access/Holiday Housing and Food Service (HFS) Contract, which students can select for an additional cost per semester to stay on campus during these times. Refunds are not offered if a student does not stay the entire closedown period.
A student who indicated Break Access/Holiday Housing on the HFS contract was assigned to a designated set of buildings that remain open during the closedown periods in the Pollock Housing Area, South Housing Area, West Housing Area, or Eastview Terrace. During fall break, staff will be available in these buildings to handle any emergencies.

Ridesharing
Transportation Services is partnering with Zimride by Enterprise, an online ride-matching service that easily connects drivers and passengers heading to the same area. Students login zimride.com/psu using their PSU Access ID and password to create a free profile. Drivers and passengers can search for open seats or post their ride and destination on a secure and private network. The platform’s unique approach to ride-matching allows members to link their profile to their Facebook page.
Rooms at The Nittany Lion Inn
The Nittany Lion Inn has limited availability for students during fall break. They are offering an $89 per night rate during this time. Students may book a room online or call 814-865-8500 for availability.
