Hazmat training exercise to take place Sept. 24 at Beaver Stadium

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. —The Penn State Hazmat Response Team will be conducting a full-scale training exercise from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Beaver Stadium.

The exercise, a required component of the team’s certification with the state of Pennsylvania, will be conducted in conjunction with other medical and emergency response personnel from the local and county levels. The Penn State hazmat team serves to protect the University from and mitigate the consequences associated with hazardous materials incidents.

The majority of the activity will be centered around Gates B and E of the stadium, and the presence of emergency vehicles in the area is no cause for concern. A PSU Alert will be sent Saturday morning to serve as a reminder of the training exercise.
