UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Alumni Association’s worldwide engagement efforts and volunteer impact were outlined today (Sept. 16) by Alumni Association Chief Executive Officer Paul J. Clifford in a report to the Board of Trustees during its regular meeting.
Clifford reported on the Alumni Association’s progress during the past year and offered insight into the organization’s “Vision 2020” strategic plan. Highlights of his report include:
- Alumni Association membership for FYE16 stands at 176,427, with 658,491 living Penn State alumni worldwide.
- Three new alumni organizations were chartered this year—the College of Nursing Alumni Society, the Penn State On-Campus Mentors Alumni Interest Group, and the Penn State Leadership Alumni Interest Group. They join the more than 300 active volunteer groups and over 3,000 volunteer leaders engaged by the Alumni Association.
- The Alumni Association pledged a $200,000 match to contributions from seniors in support of the 2016 Class Gift to the Counseling and Psychological Serviced Endowment, which is a critical campus resource for students.
- Leading up to its sesquicentennial year, the Alumni Association will build on its current initiatives through a new strategic plan, “Vision 2020,” which will focus on five core priorities: Foster loyalty to Penn State; Provide avenues for personalized engagement; Keep higher education strong; Support leaders of volunteer engagement; and Ensure the continued success of the Alumni Association.
