Star lawyer from 'Making a Murderer' comes to Berks on Oct. 19

Dean A. Strang, best know as one of Steven Avery's defense attorneys in the Netflix documentary "Making a Murderer," discusses the inadequacies of the American justice system at 12:30 and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium at Penn State Berks. 

Both lectures are free and open to the public but tickets are required in advance. In this presentation, Strang explores the major underlying themes of the docuseries including whether all people have a fair chance at being effectively represented and what groups are at a disadvantage. Strang will also provide advice on how individuals can best prepare should they ever need legal representation.

Strang is the author of "Worse Than the Devil: Anarchists," "Clarence Darrow" and "Justice in a Time of Terror." He has served five years as Wisconsin’s first federal defender; shareholder in three of the state’s leading criminal defense firms; and co-founder of StrangBradley, LLC. He is also an adjunct professor at Marquette University Law School and the University of Wisconsin Law School, and he serves on the Wisconsin Innocence Project.
