Palmer Museum of Art announces fall 2016 Gallery Talks

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. —The Palmer Museum of Art at Penn State invites students, faculty, staff and the public to stop by the museum this semester to explore the current exhibitions on view and participate in these engaging conversations led by museum curators and other Penn State faculty members.

Adam Thomas, curator of American Art, will lead a Gallery Talk titled "The Gentle Satire of Adolf Dehn" at 12:10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, in the exhibition gallery located on the museum’s first floor.

Joyce Robinson, curator, and Steven Rubin, associate professor of photography, will lead a Gallery Talk titled "Still Moving: Photographs by Steve McCurry" at 12:10 p.m. on Sept. 16,  in the exhibition gallery located on the museum’s second floor.

Patrick McGrady, Charles V. Hallman Curator, will lead a Gallery Talk titled "Recent Acquisitions: Gifford Beal in Rockport" at 12:10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, in the exhibition gallery located on the museum’s second floor.

Shannon Goff, assistant professor of art, and Tom Lauerman, assistant professor of art, will lead a Gallery Talk titled "Expanded Practice" at 12:10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, in the exhibition gallery located on the museum’s second floor.

Stephanie Snider, associate professor of art, and Ann Tarantino, assistant professor of art, will lead a Gallery Talk titled "Expanded Practice" at 12:10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, in the exhibition gallery located on the museum’s second floor.

Brian Alfred, assistant professor of art, and Rudy Shepherd, associate professor of art, will lead a Gallery Talk titled "Expanded Practice" at 12:10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, in the exhibition gallery located on the museum’s second floor.

Michael Collins, assistant professor of art, and Matthew J. Olson, instructor, will lead a Gallery Talk titled "Expanded Practice" at 12:10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, in the exhibition gallery located on the museum’s second floor.

Aaron Knochel, assistant professor of art education, and Andrew Hieronymi, assistant professor of art, will lead a Gallery Talk titled "Expanded Practice" at 12:10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, in the exhibition gallery located on the museum’s second floor.

Graeme Sullivan, director, Penn State School of Visual Arts, professor of art education, will lead a Gallery Talk titled "Expanded Practice" at 12:10 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, in the exhibition gallery located on the museum’s second floor.

Eduardo Navas, assistant professor of art, and Eric Roman, visiting assistant professor of art, will lead a Gallery Talk titled "Expanded Practice" at 12:10 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, in the exhibition gallery located on the museum’s second floor.

Exhibitions on view at the Palmer Museum of Art this fall are "Recent Acquisitions: Gifford Beal in Rockport" from Aug. 23 through Dec. 18; "The Gentle Satire of Adolf Dehn" from Aug. 30 through Dec. 18; and "Expanded Practice" from Oct. 18 through Dec. 11.

The Palmer Museum of Art at Penn State is located on Curtin Road and admission is free. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. The museum is closed Mondays and some holidays. Extended hours: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 13, 20 and 27. Reduced hours: noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, through Sunday, Nov. 27, and Saturday, Dec. 17, through Thursday, Dec. 22. The museum will be closed Thursday, Nov. 24; Friday, Nov. 25; and Friday, Dec. 23, through Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017.
