UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The College of the Liberal Arts will host a festival for undergraduate students from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8. The festival is open to all Penn State students, including those interested in learning more about the majors and resources in the college. The event will take place on Pattee Mall between Sparks and Burrowes buildings.

The festival will include more than 40 departmental and informational tables staffed by faculty and staff to meet and greet students. Students will have the opportunity to learn about scholarships, undergraduate research, the Paterno Fellows Program, and more. The Liberal Arts Undergraduate Council and Liberal Arts Envoys will also be on site to talk to students about getting more involved in the college community.

“The college prides itself on its efforts to give our students an edge, which we call the 'liberal arts edge,'” said Holly Beaver, director of undergraduate studies and student services in the College of the Liberal Arts. “To take full advantage of that, we encourage our students to participate in events like these that bring together our liberal arts community. The festival will give our current students, as well as prospective students, an opportunity to learn more about our exciting majors, minors, and courses that we offer. Additionally, it will be a great opportunity for the college deans, faculty and staff to engage with our students.”

Hot dogs, fries, soft pretzels, cotton candy, slushies and Berkey Creamery ice cream will be available for free. Students can also play games and dunk liberal arts faculty and staff in the dunk tank. There will also be a photo booth and raffles.

The Liberal Arts Career Enrichment Network will also have a tent where students can learn more about study abroad opportunities and internships. Resources will be available to help students prepare for the upcoming Fall Career Days. Employers from Liberty Mutual, Kohl’s, Community Service Group, and Teach for America will also be there for résumé reviews and networking.
