Fall drop/add deadlines, census date approaching

Last fall, the University Faculty Senate approved changes to the drop/add policy, changing the period students may drop or add courses without academic penalty from 10 calendar days to six calendar days.

For fall 2016, the regular drop deadline is 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, while the regular add deadline is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28.

Penn State will implement a “financial aid census date” with the beginning of the fall 2016 semester. The census date is the day that Penn State takes a snapshot of your semester enrollment which becomes the basis for your fall 2016 aid eligibility.

The fall 2016 financial aid census will coincide with the drop/add deadlines. If you are a financial aid recipient, it is important to finalize your fall schedule by the drop/add deadlines. Courses that have a later start date than the first day of classes will also adhere to the same census date.
