Faculty member's documentary 'A Wing and A Prayer' set to screen in New Jersey

A free screening of a Penn State faculty member’s documentary “A Wing and A Prayer” will take place at 11 a.m. July 12 at Stockton University’s Manahawkin Instructional Site in Manahawkin, New Jersey.

The hourlong film, which was written, directed and produced by Boaz Dvir, an assistant professor in the College of Communications, was selected by PBS for national distribution last year and tells the virtually unknown story of World War II aviators who risked their lives and freedom in 1948 to prevent a second Holocaust. It features exclusive interviews by the operation's secretive key members, including its leader, Adolph Schwimmer, and chief pilot, Sam Lewis.

Since its release, “A Wing and A Prayer” has gained attention from across the country. In addition to TV showings, the film has been screened coast to coast at festivals and special events.

Dvir is also the creator of award-winning documentaries “Jessie’s Dad” and “Discovering Gloria.”
