Behrend’s Aqlan named president-elect of IISE division board

ERIE, Pa. — Faisal Aqlan, assistant professor of industrial engineering at Penn State Behrend, has been elected president-elect for the Logistics and Supply Chain (LSC) division of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE). Aqlan assumed the role on June 1.

Founded in 2011, the LSC division is designed to provide a forum of knowledge sharing, networking and professional development for IISE members in the area of logistics and supply chain. Aqlan has been associated with the LSC division since 2014. He served as a director-at-large in 2014, director of events and conferences in 2015, and as LSC track chair in the IISE Annual Conference and Expo in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

Aqlan joined Penn State Behrend in August 2014. He advises the campus' IISE student chapter and has worked on industry projects with IBM Corporation and Innovation Associates Company. He has also published more than 40 papers in scholarly journals.
