Schreyer Institute to offer campus climate workshop June 30

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence will present a free workshop titled “Racial Climate Programs: Campus Strategies for Success” from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, in 315 Rider Building at University Park.

The webinar, offered by Paper Clip Communications and led by Jamie Washington, president and founder of the Social Justice Training Institute, will focus on strategies for creating an inclusive campus climate.

The webinar will address the following questions:

  • How do you educate students and staff about microaggressions?
  • What initiatives are working on other campuses that can be adapted to yours to help your students feel safe and included?
  • What response strategies are most effective in responding to racial tension, derogatory behaviors and hate crimes in a campus setting?
  • What is working in training faculty about how to address and discuss these issues in the classroom?
  • What can you do to create a safe and inclusive living community?
