UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Professor A. Ravi Ravindran, a world-renowned expert on operations research, is the editor of a new book that provides guidance for decision-makers in the supply chain.
"Multiple Criteria Decision Making in Supply Chain Management" (Operations Research Series), published by CRC Press, LLC, provides a comprehensive overview of multi-criteria optimization models and methods that can be used in supply chain decision-making.
The book features contributions from internationally known authors, researchers, educators and practitioners that address the complex issue of maximizing profit and customer responsiveness while minimizing supply chain risk.
Ravindran, a faculty member in the Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, has nearly 50 years of experience in academia — including nearly 30 years at Penn State — and seven books published on various operations research-related topics and methods.
The focus of the book is on the design and operation of the supply chain system. This method involves connecting many production and distribution systems — often across wide geographic distances — in such a way that the businesses involved can ultimately satisfy the consumer demand as efficiently as possible.
