MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — Data users from across the Commonwealth are set to gather at Penn State Harrisburg for the Pennsylvania State Data Center’s (PaSDC) 2016 Data User Conference on May 12. The annual conference serves as Pennsylvania’s most comprehensive single-day forum for research and development in demographic data.
This year’s conference, “Data Driven Decisions,” will focus on understanding and utilizing data to assist organizational change. Sessions by researchers and state agency personnel will discuss topics such as the impact of demographics, the 2020 census redistricting data program, the police legitimacy crisis, and more.
Jennifer Gibbs, assistant professor of criminal justice in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Public Affairs, will give a plenary talk on Pennsylvania residents' perceptions of police legitimacy, drawn from data collected by the Center for Survey Research at Penn State Harrisburg.

The PaSDC is the Commonwealth's official source for population and economic statistics and is housed at Penn State Harrisburg within the Institute of State and Regional Affairs. The center also serves as Pennsylvania's liaison to the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of the Census and as representative to the Federal State Cooperative Program for Population Estimates and Federal State Cooperative Program for Population Projections. The PaSDC provides data products and services to business, academia, governments, nonprofits and private citizens.
