CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — When sophomore Eric Oh came to Penn State Lehigh Valley two years ago, his main goal was to become involved and become part of the campus community. After receiving guidance from upperclassman, Oh felt the responsibility to help other students. Beyond mentoring them, Oh has since been instrumental in helping to organize workshops, bus trips to three career fairs at University Park, trips to Wall Street in New York, a weekend leadership conference at Columbia University, among other things, giving his fellow students opportunities to succeed in growing as young professionals.

Oh, a finance major, is involved in several leadership roles on campus. He also prioritizes internship experience and is currently a wealth management intern for Morgan Stanley. Previously, Oh was an intern for U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent. Oh has made the dean's list every semester and was the recipient of the President's Freshman Award.

Oh's efforts were recognized on April 23 at the Student Leadership and Service Awards Ceremony at University Park, where he was honored with the University-wide Rose Cologne Keystone Citizen Award. This award recognizes Penn State students who have made valuable contributions in the area of service and volunteerism to their campus and local communities as demonstrated by their ongoing involvement and efforts to engage and lead students in volunteer service.

"Eric is a giver and a doer. Silos and boundaries do not exist in Eric’s thinking. He empowers others by his example to participate and take the initiative by instilling self-confidence in them," said Mike Krajsa, instructor in business at Penn State Lehigh Valley.

"I have found him to be conscientious, motivated and a role model and mentor to many students," said Denise Ogden, professor of marketing at Penn State Lehigh Valley. "He goes above expectations and his excitement and motivation is evident."

This award is particularly meaningful to Oh because he was acknowledged for doing things he truly enjoys and because he takes great pride in devoting his time to others. Oh was one of two students to receive this award and the only Penn State Lehigh Valley student to be recognized.

"I regard this award as a win for Penn State Lehigh Valley as whole. I pass down this honor to the wonderful campus that has constantly fueled my growth, both personally and professionally, for the past two years," said Oh. "I look forward to contributing more in the future and giving back even more."
