Smeal MBA team takes second at Big 10+ Case Competition

A team of Penn State Smeal College of Business first-year MBA students took second place in the Big 10+ Case Competition in early April at Ohio State.

John Brodie, Alexandra “Sasha” Murr, Justin Richards and Zahidual Naim Zakaria teamed up to outperform 14 other teams. Zakaria won the award for Best Q&A.

Teams analyzed The Limited, an American clothing company that sells women’s clothing and accessories. They toured retail locations, interacted with company executives, and then had 30 hours to develop a comprehensive pitch outlining concrete recommendations to guide the company’s growth initiatives.

Smeal defeated two other teams in Round 1 to advance to the final along with two other teams.

Competition judges included representatives from The Limited, as well as other corporate executives.
