UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State’s Innovation Park is conducting a food drive during the week of May 2-6, with contributions benefiting the State College Area Food Bank.

The food bank’s needs include: spaghetti/pasta sauce, soups, canned meats (chicken, Spam, tuna), cereal, oatmeal, condiments (ketchup, mustard, barbecue sauce, etc.), protein beans, rice/rice sides, sugar, flour, coffee, tea, juice, peanut butter, jelly, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent and soap (bars and liquid). These items may be dropped off at any of the buildings at Innovation Park during the first week in May.

Food banks serve many families, and nearly half of the people served by U.S. food pantries live in households with at least one working adult. These individuals must try to make ends meet on low wages that simply cannot cover mortgage or rent payments, the cost of prescriptions and medical care, utility bills, car payments, fuel costs and food.

Donations from the entire Penn State community are welcomed and appreciated. For more information, contact Michelle Cook at 814-441-3075.
