HERSHEY, Pa. — Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center recently partnered with Dauphin County Medical Society Alliance (DCMSA) to host 186 students from eight local middle schools for "Eighth Grade Math and Science Day." DCMSA is an alliance of physician spouses and families dedicated to improving health in our community.

The April 8 event gave students the opportunity to hear about careers at the Medical Center, learn hands-only CPR and visit five of 20 total table stations for hands-on activities and information on how math and science are used in healthcare professions. After a welcome by Judy Dillon, president of DCMSA and director of community health at the Medical Center, the students were given an overview by Executive Director Alan Brechbill and heard from several other presenters. Additionally, 24 employees donated their time to share information with students about their careers at the table stations.

The day was a success and highlighted the importance of a strong math and science curriculum in high school for students who are considering a future in the world of medicine.
