Longtime Fayette campus employee honored

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. — Penn State recently awarded a 25-year chair to Rita Gumbert in recognition of her years of service at the Fayette campus.

Gumbert joined Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus on a part-time basis before accepting a full-time position in February 1991. Over the course of her career, she has worked for the continuing education and finance departments, and has been the assistant to the financial officer for the past decade.

Gumbert and her husband, Dave, reside in Uniontown. The couple has two daughters — Heather and Ashley — both of whom are Penn State alumni.

Gumbert, who loves working for Penn State, considers her co-workers at the Fayette campus to be a second family. “My Penn State family keeps me here,” she said, “and I’m going to be here for another 25 years!”
