Dean David H. Monk has been named to the National Science Foundation Directorate for Education and Human Resources Advisory Committee, through Dec. 31, 2019. The role of the committee is to provide advice, guidance, recommendations and oversight concerning NSF's science and engineering programs. This includes effective and efficient strategies for assessing the condition of science, technology, engineering and mathematics education in the United States, evaluating program results, achieving overall program balance, evaluating program results, and long-term strategic planning. The Advisory Committee membership consists of 20-25 science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education experts. For more information, visit https://www.nsf.gov/ehr/advisory.jsp.

Paul Morgan, associate professor of education policy studies, recently published a study exploring science achievement gaps in young students. His research has received extensive media coverage with features appearing in U.S. News & World Report, The Atlantic, Education Week, Ed Central, The Huffington Post and The Seattle Times.
