University Police investigate report of harassment, ethnic intimidation

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State University Police are investigating an incident of ethnic intimidation and harassment that occurred between 1:55 and 2:10 p.m. on March 15 on the second floor of Geary Hall, in the East Halls complex on the University Park campus. A piece of paper that contained obscene and offensive language was taped to a student’s door.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call University Police at 814-863-1111 or contact Centre County Crime Stoppers at tip@centrecountycrimestoppers.org. Persons providing information that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000 from Centre County Crime Stoppers.

Anonymous tips can be submitted at: http://www.police.psu.edu/psu-police/report-crime.cfm. In an emergency, always dial 911.

University Police would also like to remind the community to:

  • Report any suspicious persons or behaviors immediately
  • Acts of hate and intolerance are not acceptable and should be reported and investigated immediately
  • Visitors must be escorted within residence halls, do not allow unknown persons inside the building without an escort
