Penn State Berks to host first 'Leadership & Education' conference

READING, Pa. — Penn State Berks will host the first "Leadership & Education" conference on Saturday, April 9. The leadership conference will provide a dynamic, interactive forum for values-based, purpose-driven and applied leadership development focusing on eight majors at Penn State Berks. The conference will be coordinated, developed and administered by students, in collaboration with faculty.

Ike Shibley will deliver the keynote presentation. Attendees will participate in leadership-based workshops that examine cross-cultural communication, interpersonal relations, building inclusive environments and fostering cultural awareness. Each workshop will emphasize leadership within that specific major — business, criminal justice, engineering, global studies, IST/SRA, science, applied psychology, and communication arts & sciences.

Students will come away from the conference with the tools to leverage campus leadership opportunities, preparation to transition from college to career, and inspiration to facilitate change in the world.
