Greg Kelly, associate dean for research, outreach and technology, was an invited speaker at the 56th Annual Boston Colloquium for Philosophy of Science, held Feb. 26 and 27 in Boston. His presentation, "Fostering Scientific Literacy through the Development of Epistemic Practices," highlighted the conference’s theme of “How Can History and Philosophy of Science Contribute to Science Literacy and Citizenship?” Specifically, the conference focused on what should be taught to prepare students to participate as citizens in discussions of policy when scientific concerns must be accounted for along with those of economics, ethics, law, culture and politics. It was presented by the Boston University Center for Philosophy and History of Science, with the Boston University School of Education.

Jacqueline Edmondson, associate vice president and dean for undergraduate education, recently spoke with The New York Times about Penn State's Raise.me program that provides scholarships for specific students based on their classroom achievements.

Julia Bryan, associate professor of counselor education, has been awarded the 2016 Extended Research Award by the American Counseling Association for research contributions made throughout her career. The annual award recognizes a scholar whose research has had a significant impact on the counseling profession for at least 10 years.
