John M. Anderson Endowed Lecture Series to feature Letha Wilson March 15

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Letha Wilson, a master of distorting the material boundaries of landscape, object and image, will present a lectured titled "Object, Image, Landscape," at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, in the Palmer Museum of Arts' Palmer Lipcon Auditorium at Penn State. Wilson's presentation is part of the Penn State School of Visual Arts' John M. Anderson Endowed Lecture Series. 

Wilson was born in Hawaii and raised in Colorado. She received her bachelor of fine arts from Syracuse University and her master of fine arts from Hunter College in New York City, and she attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2009. Her artwork has been shown at many venues, including Art in General, the Studio Museum in Harlem, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Bronx Museum of the Arts, the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, International Center for Photography, and the Essl Museum of Contemporary Art (Austria).

Her work has been reviewed in Artforum, Art in America, The New York Times, and The New Yorker, among others. Wilson has been awarded artist residencies at Yaddo, the Farpath Foundation (France), Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Headlands Center for the Arts, and the Marie Walsh Sharpe–Walentas Studio Program. She was recently awarded a New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship in photography and chosen as the Deutsche Bank Fellow. In 2014, she received a Jerome Foundation travel grant. Wilson currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She has upcoming solo exhibitions in 2016 at Light Work in Syracuse, New York, and Grimm Gallery in Amsterdam.
