UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — This week, we recognize four Penn Staters who go above and beyond what's asked of them in their work at the University. Thank you to:

Angela Pettitt, at Penn State Shenango, whose nominator wrote: "Best English thesis professor I know! Has a huge name for herself as a Shenango Academic Resource Center (SHARC) tutor beyond multiple classes. I never had more personal aids and explanations! Beyond fair and consistent, she provides the most rapid and dependable knowledge!"

Timothy Simpson, in the College of Engineering, whose nominator wrote: "He is leading cutting-edge research in 3D printing. More than that, Dr. Simpson is a very motivating, inspiring and creative individual. He has brought companies from the industry to work with Penn State and is widely known for this contribution to the field of 3D printing."

Dean Shaffer, at Penn State Lehigh Valley, whose nominator wrote: "As the instructional designer at Penn State Lehigh Valley and World Campus, Dean Shaffer is always available to staff who need his help. He is accessible and knowledgeable, and shows respect and patience in helping others do their job more effectively. He is the best because he helps bring out the best in others!"

Karen Brace-Hodle, at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, whose nominator wrote: "Karen Brace-Hodle bleeds blue and white! She works tirelessly to support alumni programs at the Penn State Wilkes-Barre campus. She has proven to be innovative, industrious and respectful of tradition. Karen is a proud alum and respected member of the community."

Do you know someone who deserves a shout-out and whose efforts embody one of the Penn State Values: Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Discovery, Excellence and Community? If you do, consider taking a minute to nominate that person for recognition as part of a special "We Are!" series focused on the Penn State Values.
