UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Lion Scouts and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will host the third annual Lion Leadership Conference from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28, at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel.
The goal of the conference is to inspire ethical leadership among undergraduate students and provide an opportunity for students to network with one another, as well as with business, University and community leaders.
Penn State head football coach James Franklin will be delivering this year’s keynote address, speaking on his personal leadership experiences and real-life application of leadership skills.
Franklin’s speech will be followed by leadership presentations from Melissa Doberstein, director of the Presidential Leadership Academy; Sec Briselli, northeast area sales director for The Hershey Company; Meg Handley, associate director of engineering leadership outreach; Mike Morse, instructor in the College of Health and Human Development; Shannon Hagedorn, diversity programming graduate assistant in Penn State Career Services; and Kerri Anne Musick, graduate assistant in the Office of Student Activities.
After lunch, conference participants will have the opportunity to attend three different panels comprised of student, campus and Penn State leaders. Student panelists will include Katie Mailey, executive director for THON 2016; Emily McDonald, University Park Undergraduate Association president; Shannon Sweeney, Daily Collegian editor-in-chief; and Kevin Hernandez, president of the Nittany Lion Fund.
Speaking on the Penn State and campus involvement panels will be Clark Brigger, executive director of Undergraduate Admissions; Whitney Strickler, education abroad adviser; Tom Lovins, director of recreational sports; Tom Sowerby, deputy chief of Penn State Police, Gregory Drane, director of the Penn State Blue Band; and Mike Herr from the University Park post office, affectionately known as “Mike the Mailman.”
Students of every year and major are invited to attend the conference. Registration can be completed online at admissions.psu.edu/lionscouts/leadership. The $10 registration fee includes transportation to the conference and a lunch buffet, and can be paid at 101 Shields Building by Friday, Feb. 26.
