UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Tomas Fernandez Robaina, the leading scholar on race in Cuba, will present a pair of talks at Penn State on Thursday, Feb. 18.
The first talk, "Race in Cuba: Past and Present" will take place during a brown-bag lunch event at 11:30 a.m. in 216 Willard Building, followed by a public talk titled "Afro-Cuban Music and Religion" at 5 p.m. in Foster Auditorium.
Robaina's visit from Havana is co-sponsorship by the Africana Research Center; the Department of African American Studies; the Department of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese; the Latin American Studies Program; the Commission on Racial/Ethnic Diversity; and the Commission on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Equity (CLGBTE).
