Student clubs celebrating Valentine's Day with festive events, fundraisers

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — The Penn State Lehigh Valley campus will be celebrating Valentine’s Day with different fundraisers and events around campus, including a Sadie Hawkins dance.

Among the clubs and organizations that are participating are Penn State Lehigh Valley Benefiting THON, the Communication Society, State of the Valley newspaper, and RISE Club. The fundraisers will be held in Centre Hall throughout the week until Feb. 12, and the dance will be held at 6 p.m. on Feb. 11 in Room 135.

Penn State Lehigh Valley Benefiting THON hosted a Date Auction earlier in the week. The winners of the Date Auction will enjoy a lunch date at 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 11 in the Lion’s Den. All proceeds benefit the Penn State Lehigh Valley Benefiting THON team. 

The Communication Society is selling flowers, Sweethearts candies, and button notes in Centre Hall all week until Feb. 12. The prices are $2 for a flower, $3 for a flower and button note, and $1 for sweethearts. Students can buy something sweet for their sweethearts from noon to 2 p.m. daily.

State of the Valley staff is selling Valentine's Day shout-outs in the newspaper until Thursday, Feb. 11. The cost is $1, and students can add photos for an additional $1.

The dance will be hosted by the RISE Club. The dance begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, in Room 135. Free food and activities will be provided. Special guest will be Chris Jones, a hypnotist from “America’s Got Talent.”
