UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- With Penn State Dance Marathon’s penultimate weekend 15 days away, THON has launched a campaign called #CancerCannot aimed at encouraging individuals to share on social media why they are fighting cancer using the hashtag #CancerCannot.

“We are incredible excited to join the conversation around World Cancer Day by showing the world with our 15,000 student volunteers that cancer cannot and will not win,” Lily Beatty, public relations director, said.

Last year, more than 150,000 people experienced THON weekend between in-person attendance and livestream viewers.

“Our hope is to not only engage the THON and Penn State communities, but the larger cancer community in our call to action,” Beatty said, “Hopefully, as one Penn State community, we can take a strong stance against cancer and garner support worldwide.”

Lilly said the organization is hoping to spread awareness of childhood cancer by posting a photo on Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #CancerCannot and share why you are fighting childhood cancer and how you will not let it win.
