New website serves as Starfish information resource

Academic advising tools will integrate with LionPATH

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Starfish for Student Success at http://sites.psu.edu/starfishinfo is a new Web resource to help the Penn State community learn more about the Starfish Enterprise Success Platform that will integrate with LionPATH to provide academic advising tools in time for New Student Orientation 2016.

The new website includes background about Starfish features that will be available in early releases, links to video and infographic resources, an implementation timeline, and details about training opportunities as they are developed.

Starfish functions will begin to roll out in May with the release of a new roster management system, advising notes capability, and academic summary tools. Throughout the summer and fall other features will be introduced to help advisers quickly notice and assist students who need more attention, allow students to make appointments with advisers online, and facilitate connections between students and the resources they need.

The Starfish for Student Success site will keep the Penn State community informed about these and other implementation details and provide updates on Starfish training and learning opportunities.

In fall 2015, Provost Nicholas P. Jones announced the purchase of the Starfish Enterprise Success Platform and launched the implementation team under the leadership of David Smith, associate dean for advising and executive director of the Division of Undergraduate Studies. Over time, Starfish will help Penn State more deliberately and systematically focus on student success.
