UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — When the Penn State men’s basketball and hockey teams travel to the Big Apple this Saturday for a doubleheader against Michigan, one of Penn State’s favorite student traditions will make the trip with them.

The Penn State Lion Ambassadors are bringing the S-Zone to Madison Square Garden for the Big Ten Super Saturday Hoops & Hockey Doubleheader. This is the first time the S-Zone will travel outside of Happy Valley to support Penn State Athletics away from home.

“Expanding the S-Zone is a project we have been looking forward to all year,” said Lion Ambassadors Executive Vice President Jerry Bannon. “Putting on an S-Zone at Madison Square Garden is something we never imagined doing. We’re very excited for this opportunity.”

The S-Zone moved beyond Beaver Stadium this year, making appearances at Penn State hockey and basketball home games.

The Penn State Lion Ambassadors are the student alumni corps of the Penn State Alumni Association who aim to communicate the University’s history, personality and traditions to students, alumni and friends through tours and programming. Founded in 1981, the Lion Ambassadors serve as an important facet of student outreach for the Alumni Association.
