Global Programs offering travel grants for faculty, graduate students

Travel grant deadline is Feb. 15

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Global Programs' travel grants support, through a variety of grants and awards, proposals designed to accomplish the internationalization of Penn State's curriculum, the globalization of Penn State's campuses, and the encouragement of continued leadership and scholarship in geographic regions or thematic areas of global concern.

The categories of grants are designed to encourage new applications and recognize the work already accomplished in the internationalization of curriculum and globalization of the campuses. Broadly, the grants are as follows:

  • Transformational Travel Grants: A grant renewable up to three years for as much as $3,000. Awarded for international faculty travel to develop and foster a new or existing international program that is positioned to make a substantial, long-term impact for the department, college, campus and/or University.
  • Global Engagement Network (GEN) Travel Grants: Award for as much as $4,000. For international faculty travel to prepare for or accompany students on short-term, summer or semester-long programs offered at any Penn State GEN location or in collaboration with an institution designated as a Penn State strategic partner.
  • Faculty Travel Grants: Award for as much as $3,000 for international faculty travel to explore new short-term program opportunities or to accompany students on a new short-term program.
  • Graduate Student Travel Grants: Award for as much as $500. For graduate students who are scheduled to present their work at an international conference or other major professional meeting outside of the United States.
