Penn State to face Michigan in New York City hoops, hockey doubleheader Jan. 30

Winter Sports Weekend set for Feb. 5-7

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State alumni, students and fans are invited to attend a special day in New York City on Jan. 30, as the Nittany Lion basketball and men’s hockey teams participate in the event, “Super Saturday – College Hoops & Hockey” against Michigan.

The men’s basketball and hockey teams will battle the Wolverines in doubleheader action at Madison Square Garden. The Nittany Lion basketball team will play at noon and the men’s hockey game begins at 7 p.m.Several restaurants and bars have been established for Penn State alumni, students and fans to gather before the basketball game or in-between contests. On Friday, Jan. 29, “BTN Live,” the network’s nightly studio show, will air at a special time of 5-6 p.m. Nittany Lion basketball coach Patrick Chambers is scheduled to be a guest on “BTN Live” from New York.BTN also will originate men’s basketball and hockey pre-game shows from Madison Square Garden at 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 30.

Winter Sports Weekend set for Feb. 5-7The following weekend, Feb. 5-7, fans have an opportunity to attend three home basketball and hockey events for half price during a big Winter Sports Weekend on the University Park campus. Fans can save $30 when they buy a three-game basketball and hockey ticket for just $30, half off the regular price if bought individually.

The three-game ticket special includes a ticket to the Feb. 5 women’s hockey game vs. Syracuse (7 p.m.), the Feb. 6 Nittany Lion basketball clash vs. Indiana (8 p.m.) and the Feb. 7 Lady Lion basketball game vs. Rutgers (2 p.m.).Fans who buy the three-game ticket special also will receive for free, as they enter each venue over the weekend, a Penn State Hockey drawstring bag, a Lady Lion basketball winter hat, and a Nittany Lion basketball keychain.In addition to the above three events, there will be plenty of other Penn State home action on Feb. 5-7, including wrestling vs. Ohio State in the Bryce Jordan Center (Feb. 5, 6 p.m.), men’s lacrosse vs. Robert Morris (Feb. 6, 12 p.m.), men’s and women’s swimming Senior Day vs. Villanova (Feb. 6, 1 p.m.), women’s hockey vs. Syracuse (Feb. 6, 2:30 p.m.), women’s lacrosse vs. Towson (Feb. 6, 3 p.m.), men’s and women’s track and field (Feb. 5-6), and men’s volleyball vs. Mount Olive (Feb. 6, 7 p.m.).For more information or to purchase tickets for the Feb. 5-7 Winter Sports Weekend, fans should call the customer relations team at 1-800-NITTANY, weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. or via email at golions@psu.edu.
